Buso Joins Pawnee Mental Health as Military Treatment Coordinator

Posted Tuesday May 7, 2024

Vanessa Buso Pawnee Mental Health is delighted to introduce Vanessa Buso, our newest team member serving as the Military Treatment Coordinator. Vanessa is committed to delivering exceptional support and care to the military community spanning across all 10 counties within Pawnee's service area.

With a deep commitment to serving those who have served, Buso brings a wealth of experience and expertise in supporting active duty, reserves, national guard, and prior service members. She will offer tailored treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each consumer, fostering collaboration both within and outside the network.

Born and raised in sunny San Diego, California, Buso developed a passion for service early on, participating heavily in the Army JROTC program during high school before joining the Army directly after graduation. With roles ranging from truck driver to human resources specialist, including a deployment to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010, Buso brings firsthand knowledge and understanding of military life to her practice.

After retiring from the Army, Buso pursued higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master's in marriage and family therapy. Her journey included invaluable experiences at an inpatient psychiatric hospital and as an Army Community Service Specialist, honing her skills in mental health support and counseling.

"We are delighted to welcome Vanessa to our team. With her extensive background and dedication to serving the military community, we are confident that she will make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of our clients," added Becky Woodward, Chief Clinical Officer at Pawnee Mental Health.

Reflecting on her journey so far, Buso shares, "Being a part of the Pawnee Team has been a great experience. Where I can help and reach the lives of all types of people,” highlighting the fulfilling nature of her role at Pawnee.
