Pawnee Mental Health Receives $18,750 from Salina Area United Way for Youth Enrichment and Crisis Services

Posted Thursday March 21, 2024

Salina Area United Way (SAUW) concluded its 2022-23 Annual Campaign and distributed the final payment to its nine Funded Partners. Pawnee Mental Health received $18,750 from SAUW, bringing their total funding since becoming a SAUW Funded Partner in 2022 to $44,750. This support enables Pawnee Mental Health to offer enriching experiences for youth in the Western Region, including bowling outings, participation in S.T.A.R.S. Camp, and engaging in various skill-building activities.

"The response from the youth participating in the bowling outings has been highly enthusiastic," said Gilletta Molleker, Youth Community Services Western Region Supervisor at Pawnee Mental Health. "The financial support received from Salina Area United Way has made it possible for youth to experience new activities that encourage social interaction and are not primarily technology based."

Additionally, the final payment provided vital support to Pawnee's respite and crisis houses, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for individuals in need during acute crisis situations. The partnership between Pawnee and SAUW underscores a shared commitment to serving the needs of our community, particularly in rural areas where access to human services may be limited.

"The financial support received from Salina Area United Way has made it possible for youth to experience new activities and opportunities for growth. We are immensely grateful for their generosity and commitment to the well-being of youth," Molleker added.

"We are proud to support Pawnee Mental Health's Youth Community Services and the important work they do for youth in our community," said Claire Ludes, Executive Director of Salina Area United Way. "Together, we are making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals, empowering them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential."

Looking ahead, Pawnee Mental Health is grateful to continue its partnership with Salina Area United Way as a 2023-24 Funded Partner.
