Pawnee Mental Health Stands in Solidarity with Communities Affected by Recent Tornado

Posted Wednesday May 1, 2024

In light of the recent tornado that struck Westmoreland and Pottawatomie County, I want to express Pawnee Mental Health's solidarity and support for all those affected by this devastating event. Our hearts ache for the loss experienced by the community, and we extend our deepest condolences to those affected.

Such events serve as reminders of the significance of unity and mutual support during difficult times. It's crucial to take a moment to process and reflect on our responses to such situations. As we convey our heartfelt sympathies, please be assured that Pawnee Mental Health remains dedicated to extending aid and support wherever it's needed.

We are currently coordinating with local officials to offer our services and support initiatives in the affected areas.

Our Wamego office at 510 E. U.S. Hwy 24 will be open today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., reachable at (785) 456-7408. Additionally, our Crisis Stabilization Unit at 1558 Hayes Drive in Manhattan operates 24/7, as does our Crisis Hotline at 1 (800) 609-2002.

Furthermore, if you are an employee of Pottawatomie County, remember that you have access to your Employee Assistance Program through Pawnee Mental Health. To access these services for you and your family members you can reach out to us at (785) 587-4300 ext. 823.

In addition, the Wamego Community Foundation has established an Emergency Relief Fund dedicated to providing rapid relief to those in our community affected by the tornado in Westmoreland on April 30th. This fund will help those affected by this natural disaster. Make a gift at https://www.wamegocf.org/donate/Emergency-Relief-Fund#top-of-form.

Sincerely,

Mike Rezkalla, CEO
